FIFTEEN years of HVBC. SIXTY years of me.

As I prepare to celebrate Hudson Valley Boot Camp’s 15th anniversary 🎉—alongside my upcoming 60th birthday 😳—I’ve found myself reflecting on just how powerful fitness has been in shaping my life.

And I’ll say it loud: fitness changed my life—period.

31 Years of Training Women to Be Strong (Inside and Out)

After 31 years as a personal trainer, I’ve seen this truth play out over and over again. Strength training doesn’t just change bodies—it transforms confidence, energy levels, posture, mindset, and how women show up in their everyday lives.

Strength gives you confidence.
Strength gives you resilience.
Strength gives you freedom.

And yes—we have a whole lot of fun along the way 😄.

Why Strength Training Matters More as We Age

Let’s talk facts—because science backs this up.

Starting in our 30s, adults naturally begin to lose muscle mass if it isn’t challenged regularly. Without resistance or weight training, women can lose 3–5% of muscle mass per decade. Over time, this can lead to:

  • A slower metabolism

  • Decreased strength and balance

  • Increased risk of injury

  • Bone loss and osteoporosis

Not exactly the plan most of us want.
